Title: Memento Mori
Author: [personal profile] velvetmouse
Recipient: [ profile] r_becca for the 2010 [ profile] springtime_gen exchange.
Character(s): Ginny Weasley, Harry Potter & Others
Rating: PG
Warnings: Very AU, bordering on crack!fic; the mental gymnastics required to deal with time travel cause-and-effect paradoxes; off-screen character death
Wordcount: 10,616
Summary: Voldemort is dead, and everyone can finally get on with their lives.  Years later, the Dark Lord's personal effects are found, and it seems that he recorded more than anyone guessed.  A tale of change, memory and immortality found in the written word.
Author's Notes: Consider this an alternate time-stream from what we know happened in canon; the reasons for the differences will be explained, but not until the end.
Betas: The always amazing S.

Title: Echoes of the Past
Author: [personal profile] velvetmouse
Pairing: Harry/Ginny
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2665
Summary: Help shows up when you least expect it.
Author's Notes: Just a little snippet of a (possible) missing moment from GoF :) I think I definitely hit on your request for secret rooms and hideouts, and there's a dash of banter thrown in for good measure.
Many many thanks to my beta, Sherry, who wrangles my drivel into something coherent.

Title: From Darkness, Light
Author/Artist: [personal profile] velvetmouse
Gift For: [ profile] sullensiren in the 2009 [ profile] weasley_fest
Rating: PG-13 for swearing, potential pre-slash and growing up too fast
Featured Character or Pairing(s): Bill/Remus friendship (pre-slash if you squint), Ginny
Summary: Hiding something from a Curse-Breaker is never a good idea. Hiding something from a Curse-Breaker when it involves a cursed object is just plain dumb. Hiding something from a Curse-Breaker when it involves a cursed object AND his own sister is a really, really bad idea. This is the story of what might have been when Bill Weasley learned what happened to his sister in her first year at Hogwarts.
Warnings: Progressively more AU of PoA; swearing (Bill's language goes to sh*t when he gets angry); pre-slash if you want to read it that way
Word Count: 10,212
Disclaimer: Not mine. Just playing with them, I'll put them back when I'm done. Promise.
Author's notes: Many thanks to [ profile] sherylyn, who patiently corrects my woefully inconsistent spelling and capitalization, and otherwise makes my stories better than they were before.

Title: Moving Pictures
Character(s): Ginny, Hermione
Word Count: 100

“Whatcha got there?” Ginny asked.

“Just some old home movies that my parents made.” Hermione was seated on the floor of her parent’s living room, surrounded by boxes.

“What’re they?”

“Home movies?” Hermione asked in surprise. “Well, they’re sort of the Muggle equivalent of wizard pictures. Only they capture a whole length of time, not just one moment. Here, let me show you.”

Several hours later, Ginny’s sides hurt from laughing and Hermione’s face was burning.

“And I thought all the baby pics Mum has were embarrassing!” the red-headed girl crowed. “Just wait until I tell Ron!”

“You wouldn’t dare!”

Title: Plans
Character(s): Ginny
Word Count: 100

All girls have their wedding planned out, down to the smallest detail. At least, that’s what my roommates said.

Perhaps it was because I only had older brothers around. Boys don’t talk about those things, not with their baby sister. But I never did that kind of planning. It just never occurred to me.

So as I stand here, in a white robe, with flowers in my hair, I have to laugh. The tomboy who never dreamed of her wedding is about to have one that fairytales are based on.

Sometimes the best plans are the ones you didn’t make.

Title: That Kind of Day
Character(s): Ginny
Rating: PG for language
Word Count: 100

“Bloody hell,” she swore, and cursed again. Six brothers had given her a large vocabulary from which to draw on, and now they were even helping her to expand into other languages.

But none of the languages could quite convey the day she had been having. If it could go wrong, it had. Ink spilling on scrolls, staircases refusing to go to the correct hallway, even her own shoelaces had betrayed her.

Ginny was starting to feel that she needed to get Seamus to teach her something inappropriate in Gaelic – clearly, there was someone named Murphy sitting on her shoulder.

Title: Frosty
Characters: Ginny, Arthur
Word Count: 100

Ginny always smiled when she saw muggle children building a snowman, remembering a story her father once told her.

“What happened at work today, daddy?”

“I recovered a top hat,” he said, eyes sparkling. “Someone charmed it to make person wearing it dance around.”

Ginny giggled.

“Unfortunately it blew away from its owner! And do you know where it landed?”

Ginny looked at her father eagerly. “Where?”

“With a bunch of muggle children, no older than you! And do you know what they did with it?”

“Put it on their snowman!”

“I’ll bet they were really surprised, huh, daddy?”

Title: Names
Character(s): Ginny
Word Count: 100

There were times when Ginny hated being in Gryffindor. She couldn’t get away from her brothers there, it was always “Weasley this” and “Weasley that.”

So she did what any self respecting girl would do. She found friends elsewhere.

With Luna, she was just “Ginny.” Susan Bones had adopted her with true Hufflepuff loyalty, and called her “Gin-Gin.” She even had a guarded friendship with her Slytherin potions partner, who always called her “Red.”

“Hey, Red, pay attention!” Ginny snapped back to reality and smiled at her partner.

So many houses, so many names. And none of them “Weasley.”

Title: Remembrance
Word Count: 100.
Characters/Pairings: Ginny
Challenge: Halloween

She stood before the headstones, wind whipping at her cloak and tugging at her hair, red as the leaves that played at her feet.

So many lost. She touched each stone, remembering friends, lovers and mentors. So many to remember.

Remember she would, on this All Hallow’s Eve, when the Veil was at its thinnest. She stopped at each grave, speaking to her lost ones, telling each about her past year. As she did every year.

The sun finally rose, brushing away the darkness, and she sang the praises of her personal saints, for it was now All Saints Day.

Characters/Pairings: Ron, Ginny
Challenge: The Law

“Uuurrrggggg. Remind me why I wanted to go to law school again? Let alone do a joint Muggle/Wizard degree?”

“Because you wanted to, and I quote ‘help folks get their lives straight and make a pile of galleons in the process.’ Not my fault you didn’t fully realize the consequences of entering a joint program.”

“You’re heartless.”

“I’m your sister. It’s my job. Now, tell me what you’re working on. Maybe I can help.”

“Help?? Gin, I can barely understand what I’m supposed to be writing about, and I’ve been studying it for two years!”

“Bah, let me try.”

“Gin. . .”

Title: Home At Last
Words: 100
Character: Ginny
Challenge: Free Week
A/N: What if Harry wasn’t the only one to have an argument with the Sorting Hat?

Remixed into Green And Silver (Home Is Where The Heart Is Remix) by [ profile] eustaciavye for the 2012 Remix Madness.

She was in the wrong house and knew it.

Why the Sorting Hat had put her in Gryffindor after such a display of cowardice, she had yet to figure out. But at age eleven she was too cowardly to go against family tradition, and so she acquiesced.

For seven years she suppressed her first instincts, playing the selfless lioness.

Her first act after graduation was to buy herself a new robe.

Standing in the dressing room, she admired the way the green fabric fell and how the silver trim highlighted her figure. She was in her true colors at last.
